  • I'm a privacy-minded programmer
  • I'm (...) aware of how these AIs function
  • I am not overly concerned about them

Objectively, these three statements form a paradox. At least one statement has to be false.

That's really surprising to read. The game has been been described a solidly mid by every review outlet. Does portability really offset the repetitiveness by that much?

The characters are great. It's not BG3 obviously, but there's enough depth there. Like I said, it's on the level of a goofy action movie plot from 20 years ago. No ones gonna get an oscar but you'll be entertained nonetheless.

It has a lot of Doom-like exploration for new gear and other goodies. Also a handful optional bosses which are pretty hard to beat. But the shooting revolves around basically 3 weapon types (magic types in this case): a DMR, an SMG and a shotgun. The variations thereof don't feel different enough and the feedback lacks kick, so the shooting doesn't feel very meaty. It's still solid enough, but the story is definitely what carried me through the 20ish hours of the game.

I just finished Immortals of Aveum. I really liked the story. Felt like an early 2000 science fiction action movie. It's gorgeous looking but the shooting didn't have enough oomph to be really fun, so I stopped playing after the credits rolled. Didn't feel the need to 100% it.

My guess is that people disagree with propagating the delusion that pasting that link in every comment helps with stopping AI from feeding on your input.

I've recently investigated my best friend Larry. He never pirated any video games ever. Pinky promise.

I'd like to harden my device and put some of my apps (mail & chat mostly) behind an additional layer of security. I found this app, that comes pretty close to what I had in mind.

However, it hasn't been updated in 5 years and some options in the app are still flagged as in development. Anyone know of a maintained alternative?

Since I upgraded all my devices to KDE 6 I have this weird issue with my laptop and media PC. The software update icon that sits in the tray and starts Discover seems to think I'm using a light plasma theme. It's only this one icon, and it's the same for all icon themes. I do not have this issue on my desktop, which has the same updates (comparison in screenshot).

I have tried the following to no avail:

  • switching between multiple icon themes
  • switching between KDE light and dark plasma themes
  • deleting ~/.share/icon-cache.kcache

Anyone have any further ideas?

This whole thing is a perverted joke about our corrupted society. Billionaires drag each other to court over who gets to be even more of a billionaire while people working 2 jobs in that same fucking country can't make rent.

Redistribute those billions among the Tesla workers who actually did the work for fucks sake.

Started to get this message when accessing Reddit. I use LibreWolf as a browser, which does indeed provide a more generic user agent to combat fingerprinting, but nothing out of the ordinary either (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/119.0). Anyone else experiencing this?

Edit: seems to have resolved itself. Thanks for confirming I wasn't doing anything wrong. Let's hope this isn't some new algorithm to test if for insufficient fingerprinting so Reddit can kick ad-resistant users.

The same 3 VPNs get recommended each time this question is asked:

That sounds like the error message of a dev that handed in his 2 weeks.

I recently was able to acquire an older Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130 with an Intel i3-4030Y and 4GB of RAM.

I installed Fedora GNOME spin thinking GNOME might be the right DE for touch interfaces. Sadly it behaves sluggishly and the touch capabilities are lacking. Nautilus for example can't deal with long clicks to simulate right clicks, making file browsing a chore since I need to plug in a mouse and keyboard.

Does anyone have any experience with older convertibles? What distro do you use to make use of the touch interface while keeping a snappy system?

I've installed Fedora 38 with an encrypted system partition since I'll be traveling with my device. OS is running fine but now I'd like to have a more human readable label in dolphin for that partition. All renaming attempts in the terminal with "e2label" and "btrfs filesystem label" failed. The KDE partition manager didn't help either. Disks at least shows me the option to add a label, but can't unmount the partition to do so (Error unmounting, udisks-error-quark, 14).

Does anyone have any experience and would like to share?

Article is from a renowned german IT centric media outlet. Topic is a new ruling that allows for government spying through trojan horses on the press. This ruling is highly alarming.

Apparently Reddit is now preventing people to anonymously browse NSFW posts in the browser. Instead they invite you to download the app.
